With
great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Dr. Terry Yunker on July
20, 2016, in Oklahoma City, OK. Terry was one of the founders of both
the Flathead Spay & Neuter Task Force and Spayway in Oklahoma City.
His lifelong love of animals, especially cats, drove him to pursue his
career in veterinary medicine. Raised in North Dakota as the youngest of
eleven children on the family farm, Terry was always surrounded by
animals.
He practiced in veterinary clinics throughout the valley
for many years and helped the Montana Spay/Neuter Task Force with
clinics throughout the state. Terry was instrumental in getting the
Flathead Spay & Neuter Clinic started over fifteen years ago. It was
his dedication to ending the suffering of unwanted dogs and cats that
made his decision to become strictly a spay/neuter veterinarian a
reality. With over 200,000 surgeries to his credit, his legacy will live
on forever. He was a mentor to many aspiring veterinarians and his
expertise as a surgeon was second to none.
Always willing to help
any animal in need, Terry exemplified what it took to be a great
veterinarian. He loved his kitties and his extended spay neuter
families. Despite his preference for loud music during surgeries, he was
a quiet, gentle man. He was passionate about spaying and neutering and
knew that he was making such a difference in the lives of both people
and animals. His time on this earth was far too short, but his legacy is
as large as the universe.
We grieve for all of his friends and
family, here, in North Dakota and Oklahoma. Please hug your dog or cat
in his honor.
Spay & neuter now and forever.
